When the young man intended to consummate the marriage, she refused, revealed her noble lineage, and asked that a letter be sent to her father al-Mu'tamid to secure his consent for a proper marriage contract. She composed and sent these verses to her parents while her father was in Aghmat, bringing them great joy upon learning she was alive, whereupon her father sanctioned her marriage to the young man.

لا تُنكروا أنّي سبيتُ وأنّنيبنتٌ لملكٍ من بني عبّادِ
ملك عظيم قد تولّى عصرهُوَكذا الزمان يؤول للفسادِ
لمّا أرادَ اللَّه فرقة شملِناوَأَذاقَنا طعمَ الأسى عن زادِ
قامَ النفاقُ على أبي في ملكهِفَدنا الفراق ولم يكن بمرادِ
فَخَرجتُ هاربةً فحازني اِمرؤٌلَم يأتِ في عجاله بسدادِ
إِذ باعَني بيعَ العبيدِ فضمّنيمَن صانَني لّا من الأنكادِ
وَأَرادني لنكاحِ نجل طاهرحسن الخلائق من بني الأنجادِ
وَمَضى ليك يسومُ رأيك في الرضىوَلأنت تنظر في طريق رشادي
فَعَساك يا أبتي تعرّفني بهِإِن كان ممّن يُرتجى لودادِ
وَعَسى رميكية الملوكِ بفضلهاتَدعو لَنا باليُمنِ والسعادِ
